NGO COMMENDS COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED BY SOUTH SOUTH GOVERNORS....ASK NIGERIANS AND NIGER DELTANS TO SUPPORT EFFORTS AIMED AT CONSTITUTIONALITY AND RULE OF LAW

The Wind of Hope, an NGO committed to the enthronement of democratic ethos and a better life for all Nigerians has commended the recent call by Governors of the South South that, the attack on the credibility of the Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Buhari administration is undemocratic and an unprecedented and premeditated assault on the Nigerian Judiciary. 

The NGO,through its Director of Research and Strategy Dr Preye Johnson said this trend is  similar to attacks on the Judiciary in 2017 and not so long ago on the National Assembly. The group cautioned the Buhari administration to be mindful of the effects of its attacks on constitutionally guaranteed seperation of powers by arms of Nigeria’s democratic organs of government and the negative grave consequences on the development of our fledgling democratic experience of the past 20 years.

Also speaking further, the NGO asked all the peoples of the Niger Delta region, regardless of political affiliations and partisan bias address the issues affecting its people with a united and brotherly oneness of purpose.

The NGO called on Nigerians from all works of life to stand up and speak against the the growing trend of authoritarianism and dictatorship. Dr Johnson concluded by saying " Nigerians must stand up and protect our hard earned democracy before we descend down the abyss of chaos and mayhem".

The resilience of Chief Samuel Ogbuku, (PhD), Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), who nurtured the birth of the Niger Delta Chambers of Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA), came to bear when all other such chambers in the region put up a resistance against the registration of NDCCITMA, a battle that lasted over nine months.
