A press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Bayelsa State,  Francis Ottah Agbo noted that the  Forum made far-reaching resolutions.

They include: The South South Governors Forum support the clamor for Restructuring,  fiscal federalism, devolution of powers from the Centre to the federating units. The Governors said for  Nigeria to be stable,  peaceful and prosperous,  it should be restructured.  They vowed to work with like minds to make it a reality!

They also resolved to press for the release to the Oil producing states, the 13 percent derivation component of the $1b withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account by the FG to fight insurgency in the country. The communique which was read by the forum's Chairman and Governor of Bayelsa State,  the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson also knocked the  Water Ways Bill being sponsored by the Federal Government which empowers the Federal Government to own and control the waterways and their resources and activities. The forum condemns the bills and calls on the Fed Govt to embark on further consultations on the bill in order to get the buy-in of Nigerians .

It will be recalled that Dickson had raised the radar on the Restructuring campaign which saw him visit President Muhammadu Buhari,  APC Committee Chairman on Restructuring and Kaduna State Governor,  Nasir Elrufai. Dickson  has promised to visit more Northern leaders because according to him,  "the North is indispensable for the Restructuring of Nigeria to see the light of the day!"

ASUU UniAbuja begins indefinite strike

  The University of Abuja branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared an indefinite strike over some unresolved issues between the management and the union. Some of the issues include the illegal Advertorial for vacancy of the position of Vice Chancellor by the current vice chancellor of the institution and illegal recruitments without due Process. A statement by the Chairperson of the ASUU University of Abuja chapter, Dr Sylvanus Ugoh says the decision to embark on the indefinite strike was reached after the congress of the Chapter with approval by ASUU National.  Ugoh said after following due process in line with ASUU procedures, the Trustees and Principal Officers granted the branch the permission to proceed on an indefinite, comprehensive and total strike until the issues in contention were addressed.
