In a swift reaction to the comments of President Mohammadu Buhari in London describing Nigerian youths as lazy and uneducated, Sen Datti Baba-Ahmed, a prominent Presidential Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party,has enjoined his fellow youth to remain calm and forgive the unfortunate comments.

He said that most Nigerian Youths today genuinely have the correct GCE O' level results but have remained victims of poor management of Nigerian Universities and corruption which President Buhari's  government has failed to address. He said Nigerian youths with first degrees, Masters degrees and PhDs abound but are either jobless or in sectors that don't reflect their expertise. Some graduates are known to be "Okada" riders and engage in all kinds of odd jobs to make ends meet. He noted that Nigerian youths are some of the most hard working and enterprising youths in the world and don't deserve to be denigrated by their own President.

He also noted that the comment by President Buhari is having a negative impact on employability of the youths by demarketing them and making  admissions into other foreign institutions more difficult.

ASUU UniAbuja begins indefinite strike

  The University of Abuja branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared an indefinite strike over some unresolved issues between the management and the union. Some of the issues include the illegal Advertorial for vacancy of the position of Vice Chancellor by the current vice chancellor of the institution and illegal recruitments without due Process. A statement by the Chairperson of the ASUU University of Abuja chapter, Dr Sylvanus Ugoh says the decision to embark on the indefinite strike was reached after the congress of the Chapter with approval by ASUU National.  Ugoh said after following due process in line with ASUU procedures, the Trustees and Principal Officers granted the branch the permission to proceed on an indefinite, comprehensive and total strike until the issues in contention were addressed.
