INTERNATIONAL OIL COMPANIES FUELING INSECURITY IN NIGER DELTA - GOV. DICKSON By Victor Ologbo Gov. Seriake Dickson Bayelsa State Governor, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday night launched the Rise For Bayelsa Campaign, an initiative to attract global attention to the ravaging effects of oil spills, pollution and environmental degradation in the state. At the event held at the Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa, he was however unsparing of the international oil companies (IOCs) operating in the state. He accused them of constituting the biggest threat to the security and stability of the state and the Niger Delta region under the guise of awarding crude oil pipeline surveillance contracts. Abuja Indians Cricket Club Fielding against Aso Rock Cricket Club The Iris Smart Technologies Abuja Cricket League week 2 got underway today Sunday, 17th of March, 2018 at the Cricket Club Abuja Grounds, Package B, National Stadium, Abuja. The first game of the day was between the Abuja Indians Cricket Club, AICC and the Aso Rock Cricket Club, ARCC. ARCC won the toss and elected to field. At the end of the first innings, AICC scored 119 runs for the loss of 8 Wickets. In the second inning, ARCC chased 119 runs but was only able to score 116 runs for the loss of 9 Wickets in 19.5 Overs. AICC won the match by 3 runs. At the end of the first game Abhinav Sharma emerged the man of the match and was presented with a trophy, and cash prize of N5,000 by Iris Smart Technologies as well as a 25 kg bag of rice by Olam Rice. Apart from the fact that he has spent 20 years as President, his health challenge, that has made his public appearance absolutely scarce since 2013 when he suffered a stroke and has since seen him confined to a wheelchair, was also a major issue. BAYELSA STATE SET TO LAUNCH “ARISE FOR BAYELSA” CAMPAIGN By Ogen Udoh In Yenagoa Bayelsa State Government, on Wednesday, commenced a campaign tagged 'Rise for Bayelsa' to attract global attention to the ravaging effects of oil spills, pollution and environmental degradation in the state. The Rise For Bayelsa initiative, which is an international campaign supported by Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, will be launched this evening with the screening of a short documentary that showcases the devastation caused by oil companies operating in Bayelsa. PROBE MILITARY ROLE IN BAYELSA ELECTORAL VIOLENCE...PDP TELLS BURATAI By Ogen Udoh         Aemy Chief, Tukur Buratai The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, has appealed to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai,  to investigate the role of the military in the violence that occurred in the state during the last general elections. The party alleged that some army officials directly participated in the elections and called on the military to redeem its image by probing incidents linked to them.
