BAYELSA REFORMS: PERSONNEL REDEPLOYMENT IN PUBLIC INTEREST - COMMISSIONER The Bayelsa State Government has said that the decision to redeploy personnel in the public service identified to be redundant by their supervisors to other agencies was in their best interest and that of the public. The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, assured the citizenry while speaking with a select number of journalists in Yenagoa on Thursday that the implementation of the reforms was not meant to witch-hunt any employee of government. Iworiso-Markson averred that as painful as the government's action was, it was done to avoid a collapse of the state's public service which has been under rot for years. He said that the government had embarked on a painstaking process of implementing the reforms with a focus on the welfare and wellbeing of those who might be affected by the exercise. Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State faults Edo State Government on N4b expenditure on Water Projects People Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has faulted the Edo State government over its claim that it had expended the sum of N4billion between 2017 and February 2018 on various water projects in the State in partnership with the European Union (EU) describing it as  false and misleading.  It would be recalled that the  State Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources, Mr Yekini Idaiye, had weekend told journalists that the sum of N1.3 billion (excluding donor agencies was budgeted by the State government on various water schemes in 2018. He said the sum of N1.3 billion has been released for water projects in seven local government areas of Edo state between 2017 and Febuary 2018. Good governance: Bayelsa to ‘resurrect’ state printing ‎ press By Ebi Anthony The Bayelsa State Government on Thursday said it would soon begin the process of bringing back its printing press‎ in order to bring it up to standard and meet the demands of ministries, agencies and parastatals in printing government documents. The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson gave this assurance on Thursday when he visited the State Printing Press in Ovom, Yenagoa. The visit was the last lap of the Commissioner’s  familiarization tour to agencies ‎and parastatals under his ministry. He said the government ‎will procure brand new digital printing machines and other office equipment to‎ enhance their operations and disclosed that very soon all government documents will be printed by the state printing press. The Central Organising Committee of the Governor Seriake Dickson Football Tournament, has commended the organisers of the just concluded Ogbia Unity Cup. The committee also congratulated Otuasega community for emerging winners of the competition which was concluded last weekend, after defeating Otuokpoti community, one goal to nil in the finals at Opume. In a statement signed and released in Yenagoa by the Director General of the Restoration Cup 2018, Ono Akpe, he applauded the organisers for a job well done, and for the hitch-free tournament. Kukah writes Buhari: We thought we had overcome ethnicity but you brought it back with vengeance Mathew Kukah, Bishop of Sokoto diocese of the Catholic church, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of bringing back ethnicity which Nigerians felt they had overcome. In a letter to the president, the cleric said Nigerians have never been so alienated from one another.
