Ex-Governor Dickson being received by his kinsmen in Toru Orua

The Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson was yesterday 15th February heroically escorted from the government house by leaders and members of the house of assembly, government officials, Leaders of PDP, well-wishers and supporters.

The usual lengthy convoy that escorted him was decorated with the queue of female dancers and bell ringers, pedestrians and onlookers who waved passionately.

On his arrival in Toru Orua, the country home of the ex-governor, he was yet received by a waiting but jubilant and colourful crowd who turned out in their numbers purposely to receive their own who has served meritoriously and especially recorded feats that no other in the state in the capacity he served have attempted.

Having successfully confronted and defeated the APC Federal might twice as government in opposition, first in 2015 and now 2020, there's no doubt that His Excellency, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson,  'the country man governor' as he is popularly called is the 2020 Politician of the year.
The recent Supreme Court victory of the Bayelsa PDP, took the entire nation by surprise, gave hope to all lovers of justice and left political adversaries in awe.

None expected that the judgement of the apex court would favour the PDP especially judging from the recent developments in the political arena which has indeed threatened the foundations of the country's young and growing democracy.

Hon. Dickson commenting on this after an elaborate traditional boat regatta and a brief church service at the Palace of Melchizedek Toru Orua stated that the hand of God was responsible for the victory.
In his words, 'Today is a day of happiness, gratitude and appreciation for God's mercies and his grace, not because I have any abilities but it’s by His grace that all the yokes were broken and went ahead to achieve the unimaginable.

People said a second term wouldn't be possible but with all the challenges, we achieved that and of course in the last two days, you have seen the mighty hand of God at work again where for the first time in Bayelsa State, I as a two term governor which is equally the first, handed over to a team from my own government, the very first time in Bayelsa State and one of the very few times in the country where a governor served two terms in opposition and yet from his team produce a successor.'

'I once again give God Almighty all the glory and I sincerely thank the good people of Bayelsa for giving me the opportunity to serve them for eight years. The ex-governor stated that power comes from God alone and in the past eight years, he used that power to build and not to destroy.

'In the past eight years, I did not use the powers God gave me to destroy or kill a single person but used it to build where I could. I don't claim to have solved all the problems and sincerely, no person, governor or government anywhere in the world can completely solve all the problems of humanity even if given a million years. So the challenges are there and it is very clear that my team and I with the support of our people, have done our best and the results are evident.'

The ex-governor used the opportunity to congratulate the new governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Evwhurujakpor and mentioned that he planned to rest after eight years of intense work.
