News from Akoko Edo...Fulani herdsmen attack communities in Edo State

News from Akoko Edo: Fulani herdsmen attacked several persons on Imoga-Ibillo Rd in Akoko Edo LGA of Edo State. Thousands of fulani herdsmen have taken over the northern flank of Imoga land. Imoga is the largest place in Akoko Edo in terms of land mass and the boundary village between Edo and Kogi States. They have also settled at Ogugu, Afeye and Ekor all in Akoko Edo lga. Even some of those recently displaced from Benue were moved in with two buses last night(15th January) and now in the outskirts of Oriokpe Quarters, Imoga. Tension and potential violence is ripe and ready to burst. No life has been lost and well meaning people of the area are intervening to avoid the outbreak of full scale violence. Casualties are responding to treatment at Ayunko and Madona hospitals in Ibillo.
