…Gov Dickson Calls For Prayers For Peace, Unity, Stability of Nigeria

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will be among other notable personalities expected in Bayelsa State on the 30th of this month to join in prayers for the peace and stability of the country.

Governor Seriake Dickson disclosed this, Thursday during the June edition of the state’s Monthly Praise Night at the King of Glory Chapel in Government House, Yenagoa, which had a one-time Lagos State governorship candidate, Chief Jimi Agbaje in attendance.

The Governor, who reaffirmed his administration's belief in the supremacy of God over the affairs of men, urged Christians to intensify their prayers for the continued peace, unity and stability of the country.

While, thanking Bayelsans for their resilience, support and encouragement, he expressed gratitude to God for the positive difference the administration has made in the last six years.

Governor Dickson reiterated his call on members of opposition political parties, who have seen the difference between their parties and the Peoples Democratic Party to defect to the PDP, without any further hesitation and join hands, in building the state and the country in general.

According to the Governor, the monthly Praise Night Programme will be sustained all through his stay as governor, because of its tremendous benefits to the government and people of the state.

His words, "As you all know I was away as a result of some issues that had to be attended to both for the interest of the state and the nation. That's why we couldn't hold this service in June. But, we shall be holding another praise and worship session on the 30th of this month.

"That will be a special service, because one of our fathers, former President Olusegun Obasanjo will also be in attendance, God willing. It will also be a wonderful opportunity for us to rededicate ourselves to our covenant of praise and worship, and most importantly, to God.

"In the last six and half years and now going to seven years, we have been doing our part. Every month, we assemble here for praise and worship. But, if because of some human developments, we can't hold it before the calendar month runs out, we make sure we assemble here to fulfill our vow.

"And, as we have been doing that, God Himself has taken over the transformation of our state. So, for us, there is no going back. Let me again, thank you all for your support, encouragement and prayers, and plead with you to continually pray for the peace and stability of our state and country."

Speaking earlier on the topic, "The Power of Praise", the Chaplain of Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama, Rev. Ibibi Ala enjoined the congregation to adopt praise and worship to God as a lifestyle, despite life challenges.

Making reference to the people of Judah, under King Jehoshaphat in the Bible, Rev. Ala described praise as a powerful spiritual weapon that could be used to achieve victory and solution to earthly problems.

Highlights of the service were special renditions by Governor Dickson, the King of Glory Chapel Choir among others.
