Lamido Applauds Dickson’s Development Strides, Purposeful Leadership in Bayelsa…Says He Has Changed The Narrative, Through Investments In Education, Infrastructure, Others

The former governor of Jigawa state and presidential aspirant of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Sule Lamido on Friday commended Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State for his developmental strides.

He stated that, Governor Dickson has been able to transform the state, through purposeful leadership, adding that, this has brought about the execution of people oriented projects across the State.

Alhaji Sule Lamido gave the commendation at the commissioning of the State secretariat Annex 4 in Yenagoa, as part of his two-day visit to the state.

Alhaji Sule Lamido noted that, Governor Dickson has changed the fortunes of the state, through investments in infrastructure, education and other sectors of the economy.

The presidential aspirant, in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Bayelsa state governor, Mr. Francis Ottah Agbo, described the civil service, as the engine room of the government and for the work to be done effectively, they need a very conducive environment, noting that, such workers and people friendly projects can only be found in PDP controlled states.

“His words, we are here to celebrate greatness, if nobody applauds you, you will applaud yourself. PDP is the only party that has the capacity to think and initiate projects. APC is blind, clueless, that is why they have not been able to commission anything for the past three years.

“We are proud of you, you are an inspiration, and you are a motivator to the civil servants, which is the engine room for the implementation of every programme and policy of government and by putting structures in place for work to be effectively carried out, is indeed the right step.

In his remarks, Governor Dickson, who described the presidential aspirant as an outstanding person and one of the founding fathers of the PDP, said it is the policy of his administration to ensure that, whenever a great leader of his caliber and pedigree visits the state, they are made to commission some projects for them to appreciate the achievements of the state government in the last six years.

His words “We have changed the fortunes of the state in the past 6 years. It is not only the landscape; we will leave behind a more focused, professionalized and competent civil service.

I want to thank all the civil servants for the great work they are doing and for showing understanding, we have changed the fortune of our state in the last six years and our hope and plan at the end of our tenure, is not only going to change the landscape but we are also going to change and leave behind a more focused, a more professionalized public service. I charge you all to put into good use all the structures we have put in place and to protect them, and to do your job as best as you can”.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Barr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, expressed appreciation to Governor Dickson for all the projects that he has embarked up on, since the inception of the restoration administration in 2012.

He noted that, there was shortage of office accommodation at the time, pointing out that, the Seriake Dickson led administration exhibited a very rare courage and commitment to the welfare of the workers in the State by embarking on the secretariat annex and other projects.

In their separate remarks, the Head of Service of the State, Rev. Thomas Zidafamo and the state NLC chairman, Comrade John Ndiomu, applauded the governor for providing conducive working environment for the workers.
