Bayelsa Govt to Invest in Mass Housing, as German Envoy Hails Dickson’s Achievements

The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Bernhard Schlagheck on Tuesday joined other well-meaning individuals and organisations across the world, in commending Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State for his outstanding achievements in office.

According to a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Francis Ottah Agbo, the German Ambassador gave the commendation during a courtesy call on the Governor in Government House, Yenagoa.

Dr Schlagheck, who is currently touring the South-South States of Nigeria, said he is pleased with Governor Dickson's performance in the areas of education, infrastructure and healthcare.

Speaking on the purpose of the visit, the Ambassador noted that, it was to enable him have firsthand knowledge of the economic potentials, as well as problems confronting the region, with a view to identifying possible areas of collaboration.

His words, "I'm quite impressed with what I'm seeing here in Bayelsa, particularly when it comes to human capacity development, education and health. Because human development is really very crucial and a pivotal area for the development of Nigeria as a whole, particularly here in the South-South.

"I think your Government has done a great job not only in education but also in infrastructures. In your six years as Governor, you've performed well. And so, part of the reason for my visit is to congratulate and encourage you in continuing the good works you've been doing so far."

Responding, Governor Dickson appreciated the envoy for the visit and solicited German collaboration in driving the development of small and medium scale enterprises, vocational training and housing facilities.

According to Honourable Dickson, his administration would focus attention, not only on the completion of ongoing projects, but also massively invest in the housing sector to improve the well-being and welfare of the people.

He assured the Ambassador of his administration's commitment towards promoting and sustaining the prevailing security situation, investing in tourism and other social activities to thrive in the state.

"In the remaining two years of my government, having delivered on education and consolidating in healthcare, infrastructure and agriculture, I'm preparing our state for tourism.

"Our focus will also be on mass housing which the people have a right to. I'm pointing this out because you Germans have solutions to a number of these needs.

"Let me also use this opportunity to assure you that our state is safe and stable and will be good place for German businesses, industries and entrepreneurship.
