Titcombe College alumni advise stakeholders to address falling education standards

The 1979-84 set alumni association of Titcombe College, Egbe, Kogi State, has called on stakeholders to address the falling standard of education in the country, especially in public schools. The outgoing President of the association, Dr Abiola Adimula, spoke on Thursday at a virtual handing – over ceremony to the newly elected executives to run the affairs of the association for three years. In her valedictory speech, Adimula said that parents who attended public schools could no longer send their children to such schools as a result of falling standards. She called on the federal and state governments to give more support to public schools and release more funds to improve standards, welfare of teachers and infrastructure in the schools. NIGERIAN ARMY, ICRC PARTNER TO EXPAND FRONTIERS OF STABILITY ACROSS NIGERIA

The Nigerian Army (NA) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have resolved to strengthen  partnership that will expand the frontiers of peace and stability across Nigeria through the provision of  security, humanitarian assistance, and respect for international humanitarian law (IHL). A press statement by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations on 31 January, 2024 said that the resolution was reinforced today, when the Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja received the ICRC  delegation in Nigeria led by Mr Yann Bonzon at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.  Mr Yann, while briefing the COAS said, the ICRC is committed to providing humanitarian assistance in conflict zones worldwide, similar to what it is doing in North-East Nigeria, where troops are conducting counter terrorism and counter insurgency operations.
