The Bayelsa State University, Yenagoa has been recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as the 170 th University in Nigeria, the 48 th State Government owned University, Second State owned Medical University and Fourth Medical University in Nigeria. This recognition took place with immediate effect on Thursday, 31 st of January, 2019 and the certificate presented at the NUC Headquarters in Abuja by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed. DICKSON CELEBRATES 53RD BIRTHDAY WITH ORPHANS ...OFFERS TO PAY WAEC, NECO FEES FOR PRISON INMATES Governor Seriake Dickson Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson on Monday further demonstrated his love for education by offering to bear the cost of enrolling 49 prison inmates for the next NECO  and WAEC examinations. The Governor made the promise when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Okaka Prisons in Yenagoa where he interacted with some inmates who are undergoing studies for the ordinary level examinations. DICKSON PRESENTS EMPLOYMENT LETTERS TO 1000 EMPLOYEES INTO THE CIVIL SERVICE By our Correspondent in Yenagoa Gov. Henry Seriake Dickson Bayelsa State Governor, the Honourable Seriake Dickson, on Monday, presented letters of employment to 1000 successful young graduates into the state civil service in fulfillment of his promise to the Bayelsa people. The Governor charged the newly employed graduates to adopt healthy work ethics, shun truancy, absenteeism and other acts of indiscipline in the state civil service. A statement by his Special Adviser on Media Relations, Fidelis Soriwei, quoted the Governor as saying that the recruitment process that led to the emergence of the 1000 new intakes was transparent and based strictly on merit.
